Was VERY HAPPY to receive this book - I purchased this for my 12 yr old grandson who is very into Harry Potter, wizards, basketball and a avid reader...The book itself is beautifully designed...BUT there are some flaws I think should be looked into.....the suede or velvet outside cover, is nice looking, but when packed into padded envelope it was not wrapped to protect it, thus the velvet, suede was ripped in one place and the corners of the book were worn.....of the suede,velvet..the binding of the book was very LOOSE not stable.....I know these things may not be important to everyone but, if youare 12 yrs old and would like this series to become one of your collectibles it will not stand up...the ribbon bookmark is a GREAT additional and the set up of the chapters are very eye catching... I know my grandson will love this book and will past it on to his twin sister, another basketball lover, when he is finished reading awaiting second book. I purchased this book after seeing Kobe Bryant on television speaking about it...and immediately pre ordered knowing if he was involvedit would be good.....Content is EXCELLENT!!!

I heard Kobe Bryant describe this book as "if Harry Potter and the Olympics had a baby," and Jimmy Fallon described it as a combination of Harry Potter and basketball. For boys who love Harry Potter and sports, this book is a slam dunk (no pun intended). Our son loves the book and has already told my husband (his basketball coach) that he needs to read it. By retelling the story from 5 points of view, the book serves as a useful tool in our discussions with our son about various points of view, empathy, etc. The story is also entertaining. I hope they publish more books soon.

Just got my book in yesterday with the pre-order and I was SO impressed. The book itself is awesome - velvet cover, red ribbon to hold your page, nice illustrations. Started reading last night and I'm already hooked - the story is about the team: all the individual personalities and how they work together to become a team (plus action, adventure, basketball and magic along the way).

Excellent and comprehensive anthology of Samuel Barber songs.

I bought this wonderful music book because I remembered some songs it from my college education over 30 years ago. In particular I was searching for the Samuel Barber song, "Sure on this Shining Night," a song of healing I want to sing in church. The song among other good ones is a gem in this book of songs.

If you like Barber than this is a perfect buy. What's not to love about Barber art songs? It's nice to have so many of his pieces in one edition.

Delivered, as promised. A beautiful collection by a great 29th c. composer.

I like this anthology more than the one I bought in college in 94. It's more extensive, complete, and gives more background than any other Barner Anthology.

I bought this book for my nephew who, like most kids, loves animals. Although it's marketed as a children's book I thoroughly enjoyed learning about all the fun and unique animal facts! I showed the book to several co-workers who ended up buying it for their kids. The comment from one was this book is "super cute" and "can't wait to get for my kids". The illustrations are terrific and mean that even younger kids than the recommended age are interested in the book and learning.

Bought this for my 7 yr old nephew. He loved it! I actually enjoyed it as well.

Always a DK travel guide fan, and this is no exception. In fact I bought my first one from a local bookstore. When I was taking a private tour, the local company owner collects guidebooks from his customers. He had never saw this publisher or a guidebook with this many quality photos, he decided to buy it from me. Thus I purchased the book again through Amazon. DK may not have the last information or info for budget conscious travelers. But for those who needs help with visual reference, especially city maps or 3-D map of a museum or historical site, just simply the best photographic guide, DK is your go-to book to have.

I bought this because it was a relatively new publication, but I just don't like the format that much. It's a beautiful book with lots of nice photos and a lot of information about the areas, history, etc. However, it seems to fail as a helpful travel guide which is what I needed. I prefer more detailed information on accommodations, restaurants, markets, activities and transportation than this book seems to give.

Enough about each to decide if you want to see major sites and some reasonable historical and cultural context. A little heavy for taking along but suits my needs well enough that it is usually the only guide I take on escorted tours and therefore, for me, worth the weight. With all the beautiful color pictures, it is also a good souvenir after, which is a bonus.

This is a great read for the plane ride there. It's full of beautiful photos, useful exploration tips and interesting bits on each location. The book has a high-quality jacket that will protect it outdoors. This is a photographic reference to accompany an actual guide book. It does not include housing, transport and the like. It considers historically interesting and vacation-oriented fun facts. It's meant to get you excited about your journey and it does!

Love he DK Eyewitness Travel Guides and get them for each country to where I travel. Wish this one had more details, esp about the suggested pre-planned routes. Suggested hikes would also be helpful in this country of such natural beauty and friendly people.

Excellent source for my purposes. I'm a writer and not a party animal, but enjoy history, nature, getting close to the cultural aspects. The photography is lovely and I'm so glad I invested in this edition. I"m especially looking forward to traveling into the Hill Country by train.

If you haven't had a chance to read this yet, you really should. It's the story of a pre-teen girl in a homeless family who hatches a desperate plan to secure a home for her, her mom, and her younger brother. With a lovingly depicted small southern town as a backdrop, this story is in turns charming, melancholy, and funny. Most of all, though, it's an insightful portrait (and for younger readers, a useful example) of a young girl facing her first struggle with her conscience.

A fifth grade student recommended this book to me since she knew I liked to read. She's a great kid so I thought I should read it and let her know how much I enjoyed her choice. It is a good solid read for late elementary level readers, and even higher readers for pure enjoyment. It has many elements worthy of discussion and further analysis.

This is a sweet book with a great message for all. I am a grandmother that likes to read children’s books before I give them as gifts.I always love how sweet chikdren’s Books are,Wish we had more adult books with positive messages . I would highly rate for a 2 nd to 5 th grade reader..

This story was interesting. My 9 year old son read it aloud to me and he enjoyed Crenshaw more. It was good for comparison. These are good books to discuss perspective and how to deal with problems in general. The boy in Crenshaw was helpful and had a grownup point of view compared with the girl in this story that didn't deal with the situation as well.

A fantastic read by Ms. O'Connor, that touches on poverty, childhood, kindness and family. The protagonist Georgina is first-rate! You feel her every emotion as you leaf through this novel. This book has also been adapted for the silver screen, in a Korean movie bearing the same title.

Lovely book, my son had it for his summer reading and this was a sweet story with a happy ending that evoked some interesting discussions.

Good book for any one who enjoys reading a story with believable characters that learn and grow as the story processes. Excellent book for young people, easy to read, great plot, moves a long quickly.

This beautiful book is full of emmotion. It's about poor teenaged girl who wants money to live in a house like a normal family.
