This book is a very comprehensive resource for runners of all levels. It goes well beyond the general advice found on the internet and offers a thorough overview of everything from the knee down, from injury diagnosis through treatment, as well as (most importantly) prevention. Chapters are also devoted to shoe choice and -- my favorite -- core strengthening exercises to treat and prevent foot and ankle injuries.In full disclosure, I know Dr. Fullem in real life as he successfully treated me for an intractable case of insertional achilles tendinopathy which enabled me to make a full return to running without surgery. He is incredibly well informed about the latest research in sports podiatry and very thoughtful in his care and treatment. This book reflects his huge wealth of knowledge of sports podiatry.

Dr. Fullem breaks down in simple terms the importance of our most important piece of equipment as runners...He covers the ground in a way that is comprehensible and can be applied to our sport. This is a good book for runners who struggle with injuries. Will help you to understand the mechanics better. It is fairly simple to follow and written In a good manner.

I have been a college cross country and track & field coach for over 30 years. We all run into foot, ankle, hip and knee problems with our athletes. Dr. Fullem has many great solutions and suggestions in his book. I would encourage all track coaches and runners alike to give this book a read.

Dr. Fullem has laid out an up to date road map for the obstacles that all runners may encounter. As a Sports Podiatrist, I utilize the text, pics and strategies in this book to help my patients understand their pathology as well as how to manage them. This is a must addition to any sports medicine clinicians library!!!
