Very nice spiral bound book, has excellent chapters on the most common types of patients, and included teaching, diet, how to get family involved, etc. The appendix is great, has common herbal meds and extra teaching things we always use. With alll the changes coming for 2020 through CMS our care plans needed to be tightened up. Much more specific than what we have in our program we are using. It’s been years since I had wrote old school care plans. This book is just what I needed. Money well spent ! If your doing care plans you need this book!

Well, it's all pretty much been said in the other 90 reviews, so here's a different view:Last year, I taught Algebra out of the textbook. It is an excellent textbook... If the reader already has familiarity with the subject. This year, I downgraded the textbook's position, it is no longer the backbone. I use this book as the roadmap for my class. The information is presented in a logical manner without a bunch of irrelevant things mixed in. It makes sense. I write my lectures from it, creating "gender balanced" examples. Our boys don't care about broken nails, we're lucky if we can get them to stop hunting long enough to sit in math class. Throw out a few examples about trajectory and speed of a round, and they perk right up...Yes, it is more work to teach this way. No, it is not prepackaged with tons of examples for classwork. However, am I more successful as a teacher in conveying the information in an comperhensible interesting manner? You bet! Does it keep the pace of the class moving? Yep! Two reasons -- The students actually "get" the math, and it is more logical in the presentation order.

My daughter now has all of the books in this series, and loves reading them, just for fun! Math is no longer a chore, and check is eager to learn.One year ago, I had a 10-year-old daughter who was frustrated to tears with mathematics, no matter how we tried to demonstrate and explain the reasoning behind it. Her school math grade was miserable, and she felt miserable, too. I remembered hearing about Danica's books on NPR, and had previewed them on Amazon.com. It was time to bring out the big guns.Within one day of receiving the first book, our daughter was engaged and excited about learning, and DEMANDED more books.Today, one year later, school work is tear-free, and math is her #1 subject with a straight A record.Danica has a mysterious way of explaining things to girls that just makes sense and sticks with them. There is something magical in these pages. We absolutely recommend all of Danica McKellar's books!

We are a homeschool family. My daughter has always had such a hard time with math. Her strong suit has been Language Arts and writing. However, we bought all of Danica's books last winter (2014) and between these books and a new tutor, my daughter has done a 180 in math. She references these books constantly. At the time, she is using only the Hot Algebra Exposed. She cannot say enough wonderful things about this book. It has helped her tremendously and she feels she just might now like math! And between these books and her tutor, she may be able to do harder maths come Junior and Senior yr and not feel stressed and worried over grades and understanding.I know these books are meant for girls. But seriously, my boys will be using them also when they across trouble.

We love the Danica McKellar math books because the bring the math across in a real easy to understand way for my kids. I use them with my son also since he is now in middle school. It makes homework help easier on me to deal with since I have been out of college a while now.

This series of books explains math in everyday language. It is perfect for the intended audience, and it may be useful to those who are older also, as other reviews show. My wife, however, did not find it to be helpful when attempting to read it as a refresher when returning to college, and the analogies chosen were primarily distracting for her.The strength of the book is also its weakness. While explaining math in everyday language, it is not particularly helpful as a stand-alone text because math is best learned by doing. It is clearly not intended to be a stand-alone text, of course. But for those not currently taking a math class, it will be necessary to find a book of exercises. For that purpose, and for self-study, "The Humongous Book of Algebra Problems" by W. Michael Kelley may prove useful.I've still given it four stars because the book clearly is helping people to learn algebra. As a self-study tool, however, take into consideration whether the person studying math may need other books and whether the writing style is appropriate to the student.

I think Middle School can be a time when girls back away from math and I don't want that to happen to my daughters (I have 2). The tips and shortcuts in this book are easy to understand. McKellar does a great job of walking you through problems and when she can turn them into something girls can relate to, it makes it a lot of fun to read. One of my daughter's is going into 7th grade in the fall and taking Algebra I. We've been using this book over the summer as a way to prepare her for the class. I highly recommend it to anyone who has daughters. The pages are interspersed with testimonials from girls, some who used to struggle in math, and the testimonials give positive messages about working hard and not letting math intimidate you. That seems to be the mantra for all her books -- math is not intimidating and you can handle it! It's been years since I've taken Algebra and even I understand the concepts thanks to this book. I wish I had this kind of book when I was a kid struggling with math.

I purchased 4 of Danica's books for my 12 year old niece. She was having trouble with math, found it boring, and her grades were dropping. I was worried she would be insulted that I got her math books, but she was really pleased. She started the first book the night I gave them to her. Her mom told me that she started reading them as well, and thinks they are brilliant.Danica is able to make math fun! She takes math, and likens it to everyday situations that girls might enjoy. Math is turned into quizzes, problems about shopping, boys, and other things she could relate to. Her mom also said it helps raise her confidence about doing math, and has given her a more positive outlook. We have already seen improvements in her ability to work the problems in her homework, and her grades are back on the rise.

Because my own dance education was rather inconsistent (spent time under teachers who each used Cecchetti, Vaganova, Balanchine, and Neumeier methods), i ordered this book to help me once i myself began to teach. After reading it, i will forever be a Vaganova fan. Her method is, well, methodical. Very detailed, well-thought out and well-planned. It's easy to see why she was so successful. My first struggle was that some of the names of steps she uses are now archaic, so i had to do some research to figure out what she was talking about! I also found this book more helpful when combined with another book, called The Perfect Pointe System, which was developed by a dance physiotherapist in Australia named Lisa Howell. Vaganova's way of teaching artistry is excellent, but i found it necessary to incorporate more modern/scientific ideas about how to use the muscles safely and effectively, which is where Lisa Howell's book came in. I also bought this book together with 100 Lessons in Classical Ballet, which showed how to fit Vaganova's thoughts into an actual lesson. Put together, i definitely learned more from reading these three books than from all my years of "dance education" combined!

I am thoroughly enjoying this book. I read it before class, in particular, I read about the things I will be doing in that class so that I am well prepared. I often read it during a relaxing stretch. If there's anything in particular that I want to learn it's great because of the very descriptive language. I only wish it had a glossary of terms with a picture/diagram next to it, so that if you're in a hurry you won't have to read through a whole paragraph. The russian to english translation in some places are a bit iffy, which causes some vagueness and ambiguity in it when trying to understand it. But as whole, it is a very good read. To sum it up:PROS:- very descriptive- good diagrams- easy to read and to understandCONS:- a few areas of vagueness due to the russian to english translation (a very minor con)ADVICE:- I suggest you use this book along side with 100 Lessons in Classical Ballet: The Eight-Year Program of Leningrad's Vaganova Choreographic School (Vera S. Kostrovitskaya).- Highlight particular words or phrases that help you understand the particular term, so that later if/when you're in a hurry you can just flick through the book to find what you need.

Classic of classical ballet. A small book, old-fashioned little drawings, but all is explained. I had this one growing up, and now got it for my daughter. It contains everything from basics to more complicated positions, so one uses it differently as one advances through the art.In any case also an item of general ballet culture, giving good insight into the Russian Classical Ballet school.

It's amazing how relevant a book written in 1948 is, though the book goes over my head quickly. Also she completely avoids the subject of male instruction.

Wallpaper city guides aren't quite like your average guide--they focus on the architecture, art, and design of the city. I particularly liked this little Bogota guide, as much of the information available for Colombia was quite underwhelming. This guide gave a great visual picture of the city, and gave me some great ideas for which neighborhoods to visit and which sites to seek out once I arrived. Another plus, it's very small, and while it has limited information, it's also extremely easy to carry around with you while touring the city.

I knew this wasn't going to be a standard guidebook. But the information it provides is so unsubstantial, so utterly useless, that I can't see it being helpful to anyone. There are only a couple examples in each section (shopping, restaurants) and they cater to very wealthy travelers. This guide managed also to make a number of sensationalistic claims about Colombia, with references to the former kidnap capital, the former murder capital (Medellin).

Seriously, these are not for everyone. If you love fabulous design and that is an important part of why you travel, Wallpaper Guides are the best!

Best pocket guides available, because they are the smallest, and actually fit in an actual pocket - imagine that. Have a map in back you can mark up, several blank pages to write your itinerary in. More "contemporary" than most guides, many average tourists won't like. Younger people may. We did.

I recently spent a day and a half in Rome, and this was an almost-perfect guide to all of the sorts of things I like to do when I visit cities. I say "almost" because there's no map! The book lists the street address for each destination, but fails to include info on how to get there (e.g., bus lines, nearest subway stop). So: buy this as a handy guide to all things hip and happening, but also invest in an indexed street map so you can get where you want to go.

... so I could read it as my "lunch book" when I finished Balducci's "Divine Justice". Should have read it first! Growing up, two of my favorite things were "fur persons" and racing sports cars. So you can imagine my feeling that this book just zeroed in on my heart. Depressing and tragic in places, uplifting, enobling and enlightening in others but definitely worth reading. The book brought back great memories of the dogs in my life and rapid trips over the winding roads in the the West Virginia mountains in my Triumph. It had to displace a lot of books to hit my top 5 list but it definitely did so.

"I bark twice because I want him to hear, I want him to know."As a rule I avoid sad dog things. Not because I don't like dogs, but because I love them. For me, a sad situation with a dog is 1000x worse than with a person, and I just don't have the emotional capability to keep it together. But a friend of mine recommended this book multiple times over the past year, so I finally bite the bullet and read it.And let me tell you, I regret nothing. This book was amazing. I cried in the first chapter and could not stop reading. The voice of this book is crystal clear. It's wonderful to hear a life told from a dog's perspective and Enzo is so much more than just a dog. He is a confident, a shoulder, a protector, and a prisoner. I love him. I love Garth Stein for doing this.The one disclaimer I have, don't read this in public. I finished this book in an airport and thought TSA was going to have to get involved. So many feels.

I've read thousands of books, yet this is my favorite book ever. I originally read it when it first came out, but let a friend borrow it and she moved away with it:( This is my second copy.I actually cried reading this book, and I am not a very sensitive or emotional person. I bawled like a baby. The book has so many happy moments, but the tragedies will break your heart. I like how this is from the viewpoint of the dog, and how he sees everything.The story:A dog named Enzo is owned by a man wanting to be a professional racecar driver. Enzo sees his owner go through marriage, life, death, legal issues, a career change, etc. Enzo shows you, through his dog eyes/brain, what it is like being there through all those moments. The book is not slow at all, has truly hilarious moments, and will make you want to hug your pets over and over. I am in love with this book.

[From Wikipedia]: The novel follows the story of Denny Swift, a race car driver and customer representative in a high-end Seattle auto dealership, and his dog Enzo, who believes in the Mongolian legend that a dog who is prepared will be reincarnated in his next life as a human.Enzo spends most of his days watching and learning from television, gleaning what he can about his owner's greatest passion, race car driving — and relating it to life. Enzo eventually plays a key role in Denny's child-custody battle with his in-laws, and distills his observations of the human condition in the mantra "that which you manifest is before you." Enzo helps Denny throughout his life, through his ups and downs.Likes:- Enzo's ability to break down life into a series of good or bad decisions allows the reader a simpler look at life. For Enzo, there doesn't seem to be a gray area in decision making. It's either good, or bad and that will determine the proceeding sequence of events.- Denny's perseverance (with the help of Enzo) in achieving his goals. Without revealing anything, it's outrageous the amount of crap Denny was put through in this novel and, while he had moments of serious doubt and surrender, he worked tirelessly to keep his head above water.- Many of Enzo's observations of people are on par with today's realities. Two of my favorites are:1.) People aren't always interested in the conversation unless it can be about them. Enzo commented on the realization that people will listen to a conversation until a specific comment is made that they can then use to gain control of the conversation and talk about themselves. This has happened to me quite often, although the person trying to overhaul the conversation always seems conveniently oblivious to their rudeness.2.) People aren't strongly capable of dealing with, or talking about, serious situations as they occur to others. Some examples could be when deaths happen or when family members become dangerously ill. Others don't often know how to approach or interact the individual directly dealing with the issue, leaving the conversation uncomfortable and quiet and not offering much support to the person that needs it.- Throughout the novel, the mantra "The car goes where the eyes go!" occurs as a positive way of reminding Denny, and Enzo that to achieve what you want you have to keep your eyes on the prize. Also, it serves as a good reminder that if you eyes stray towards the negative outcome of something that you are likely to venture that way.- Enzo is a very aware and intuitive pup in this novel, definitely deserving of becoming a human in his next life. Also, he was pretty funny and sought revenge in the best of ways.Dislikes:- At certain times throughout the book I would get tired of the race car analogies that Enzo used.- "The Evil Twins" aka Denny's in-laws. I would be surprised to meet a reader that didn't finish this novel absolutely hating these two characters after all of the hardships that they had Denny endure, just to achieve their own ends. Absolutely deplorable characters, which is a credit to the author for creating characters that a reader can come to hate.Overall, I would recommend this novel to any, and all readers. The amount of drama that occurs in this novel is entertaining and horrific at the same time, with plenty of positive morals that are littered throughout. PLUS, there's a dog in it!

l am in love with this book, personally my favorite from Garth Stein, have read it 2x. When my oldest was 16 I handed the book to her to read, she's a avid reader and was hesitant to ready a book 'her mom recommended', however, she decided to give it a try. She finished in a week and said, "best book I've ever read...I actually want a copy for myself because I know I'll want to read it again". When my youngest was 12 she asked to read it, based on how much her sister and I talked about this book. She read and I got the SAME reaction, 'best book I've read thus far and I want my own copy!". I would only recommend to a 12-15 year old IF you are okay with some, what society considers, 'bad language' and some adult content, otherwise it's a great story and love by very single person I've lent the book too. I have 4 copies in my home, one for each of us and one used as a 'loaner'. I highly recommend this book to anyone that hasn't read it yet.

Beautiful book, chock full of ideas. I love the Asia esthetic.

This book is exactly what I wanted - a practical, easy-to-understand guide to creating these Japanese gardens. The photos are very helpful and the plant lists also. I'm sure there are more in-depth books about these gardens, but this is a good straight-forward book for those who aren't aspiring to be Japanese garden masters. I believe the text and images focus more on the basic elements and that's a great way to offer clarity to the novice.

Beware, as noted on the end flap: Previously published as part of a larger volume, "A Practical Guide to Japanese Gardening."
