My 8-year-old daughter LOVED this book. She's an advanced reader for her grade but quite sensitive, so we have a hard time finding books that are advanced enough to keep her interested but not about bigger-kid subjects like dating. She's already torn through most of her school's offerings, and the few e-book offerings at our public library. So, before our last trip, I loaded up the Kindle with free novels that she could try -- I had low expectations because they were free, but figured it wouldn't hurt to try. This was the first one she tried, and it was a huge success. She actually woke up early one morning to finish it before school, and our kid is NOT a morning person! And now I know how the author can get away with offering the first in the series for free, because now my daughter's begging me to buy her the rest of the series! (I'm sure I'll give in sooner or later.)

If you love horses, if you love adventure, and if you love a good underlying mystery you are going to love this series. I read all nine books in a mater of days. Evy, the lead character has a connection with horses like no other...she land her artist mother ive in the wilderness with little contact with the outside world world. So Evy has had plenty of time to harness and improve on her "gift" Her adventures, which are often shared with her only friend and neighbor, are realistic for the area that she is living in. On top of this there is an underlying mystery about why her mom has chosen to drop out of main stream society and live off the grid in the wilderness. As Evy gets older her need to know about her mother's past and why she has become a hermit of sorts becomes an obsession. Little does she know how much this "secret" has to do with her and solving it may change Evy's life forever! I suggest you get the whole series as you are not going to want to stop until you know the whole story! Although written for teens and tweens, it is still an enjoyable read for the adult who loves horses and adventure!

I liked this book because I love horses and mustangs. The book was written from a young teens point of view. She can talk to horses. The last half of the book is very exciting. This book is for anyone who loves horse adventures. Yes, even adults. I am over 65 and I really enjoyed it. I have a horse and I like to think I can talk with her too. She and I understand each other.

No matter your age, if you love horses and have dreamed of being able to communicate with them, this is the book for you. It is almost a stand alone. It ends well, but leaves a secondary storyline open for more books to come. I wish there was more in this book, but I will read the rest as I can get them. Wonderfully woven are elements of suspense, danger, fear, love, best friends, and family. I would like to try the breakfast that Evy has one morning.

To be honest, I wasn't certain I wanted to read this, but it was recommended to me by a friend. I decided to give it a try, and I am definitely glad that I did. It wasn't a sappy little kids' story. It may be geared toward teens but it is a great story about the relationships between a mother and daughter, a pair of friends, and between a girl and a horse. It was interesting to discover how the story would play out and I am glad that I gave it a try. I will be checking out more titles in this series!

Great book! I almost gave it up at the beginning, because of all the names of the horses, thought I wouldn't be able to follow the story, with so many names. But I stuck with it, and then I couldn't stop reading it. I can't wait to read the next one! Evy and Willow, can't wait for the continuation.

I totally enjoyed this book. I tried to keep in perspective that it was fantasy and not get caught up asking questions like why could she mind talk with her riding horse without the wild horse hearing her... The horse scenes were intense and well done. Fun read.

I wasn't sure I was going to like this series because it sounded a bit "supernatural" but it immediately grabbed my attention and held it through laughter and tears to the very end. Although it's never been as cold where I live as where Evy lives, I've seen the diamonds in the snow. This is a great book for horse lovers of all ages. Now, to go order more in this series!

After struggling for weeks in a local community college online class using Peter Abel's Programming Assembler Language book with the PC370 IBM370 emulator, I happened upon a link to Bill Quall's excellent book. It is extremely readable, has excellent, clearly documented & complete programs to illustrate concepts, and very educational end of chapter quizzes with answers in the back. Best of all, it is written specifically to work with Don Higgin's PC370 emulator (the differences are few, but important). I doubt I would have passed the class without this book (due to lack of applicable information in the resources I had prior to finding this book).The only thing I could come up with (and it is only a caution, not a true negative) is that although the book is 563 pages, it does not go as far as I would like. I would love to have a volume 2 by the same author which describes use of multiple CSECT programs and MACRO writing (and whatever else I don't know I'm missing).Another caution: I paid $25 or so for a used copy and now the only copy I see online is offered at $99 (used), so I might look around a bit or try to plow through the IBM Principles of Operations (free online) unless I absolutely needed to get up to speed quickly for class or work.Overall, I cannot praise the writing style and educational value of this book highly enough, especially for a newbie to mainframe assembly programming (don't think it will be of much use to those wanting to learn Intel assembly!)

Great Assembler book

This isn't the best assembler book, but I was looking to fill in a collection, having been an assembler programmer. Good in its emphasis on using the emulator - who has access to a mainframe for learning purposes anymore?

Prompt delivery and product as described

This is a very good book for someone who is new to assembler, but is also appropriate for someone familiar with an assembler language who wishes to learn mainframe assembler. Not only does this book describe the assembler instructions, but it explains important bit-level concepts and the use of structured programming techniques with assembler. The book begins with an example of a one-instruction assembler program for writing a message to the console. As new instructions are introduced, practical examples of their use are presented and explained. Each chapter ends with a series of exercises. The first exercise is always a set of True/False questions (with answers in the back of the book). The remaining exercises are simple programming problems. Included with this book is a copy of a freeware application for simulating a mainframe assembler in DOS. There is also an appendix which describes the steps that are needed on a mainframe to run mainframe assembler programs that were created on the PC. If your goal is to learn to write mainframe assembler programs, then I don't see how you could miss with this book.

This book is excellent for students, or for someone like me who had to get into mainframe assembler in a hurry. I was able to read the book in about 4 hours, and doing the examples in the book helped lock the concepts into my mind.I would like to see a section with more information on the mainframe and additional material on more advanced subjects. Some preparation on the kinds of assembler errors to expect from the mainframe would be nice too.

I need to know how comprehensive the pc/370 assembler is. Is it just a subset, or the whole thing, including macros? Is there a way I/you can contact the author?

This might be the great book ever written. Maybe.I can best describe this book as "written by a committee of 6-year-old boys with impeccable rhythm." It's got diggers and backhoes and cranes and sound effects and ten different dinosaurs building something very special. I won't spoil the surprise ending for you, but it's pretty cool what ten dinosaurs can build in ten pages.The rhythm and cadence of this book are great, makes for a fun read before bedtime. I don't even mind reading it five times in a row, as is usually requested. My daughter loves to count the dinosaurs and say the sound effects with me. The only downside is that she is disappointed when she sees a backhoe in the real world and it is not being manned by a T-Rex.

Page one is the same as page four. It's a counting book and is missing page one.

My son is in love with construction vehicles and dinosaurs, so when I saw this book I was so excited and ordered it instantly. It shipped on time and was perfect! My 2 year old sits and reads it all the time. It is the perfect size for him to be able to take along with him in the car or wherever too so that he can carry it himself and I don't have to worry about him ripping pages out while I am driving.

My grandson is like most little ones - he loves dinosaurs. But he loves diggers and other construction machinery even more. That makes this one of his favorite books.

What 3 year old doesn't love construction vehicles? And what about Dinosaurs? Obviously... The two together?!? Magical!Our son loves this book. The graphics and artwork are fantastic. The story is solid, considering they have paired 2 starkly different objects together. I would only knock one star off for the overly simple story. But if I could give 1/2 stars, I'd only knock a partial star off.All round great book. At 3 1/2 years old, we no longer read it to him... He reads it himself. :) Highly recommended.

My 2+ year old son loves both dinosaurs and construction vehicles so I assumed based on reviews that he would like this book. Unfortunately he does not. I am also not impressed. None of the dinosaurs are named and the actual artwork is not sharp. He loves books but has yet to ask to have this one read to him again and when I initiate reading it to him, he takes it out of my hands and replaces it with another. Back to the drawing board...

My granddaughter loves reading the dinosaurs adventure and construction vehicles.

This is one of my 2 year old daughter's favorite books! It has a rhythm that no other book we've read has, which makes it unique and fun to read. The drawings are unbelievably detailed, we're always finding something new in the background. And, you can't really beat dinosaurs operating construction equipment.

I first found the author early one morning on PBS. I am 66 years old and was delighted that here were exercises that I could perform without hating every minute. ( I am now not ashamed to say, "I hate yoga".) I am also, like her though not as accomplished, a former dancer but have let myself get out of shape. I have been really impressed with Miranda's program and bought several DVDs which I really like but out of laziness stopped doing. When I heard about her book I felt that it would re-motivate me. How true that is! The book really explains how important - and why - it is to work the muscles. Her program is the best at keeping a person from getting stoop-shouldered and slow and unsteady-gaited, typical of the elderly and the aging. She focuses on range of motion and strength which has the added benefit of developing balance which is completely important in and of itself. This is a really sound program and I think it should be taught and done by everyone, not just those of us who are up in years although for someone of my age who has been starting to see the effects of aging (a little hard to get out of the chair, sometimes hard to straighten up upon standing, etc.) it is absolutely ideal. I don't have a lot of aches and pains but her program is supposed to really help with that, as well.

found the answer i've been looking for. this book covers the answers for my ageing back and joints, The docs said I had arthritis, but I don't think so. I've started to employ some of the stretching that this book speaks of and one of my (5 year old) problems has started to respond nicely to. I plan on getting the DVD's and pursuing it farther.

I'm a lifelong exerciser, now in my 70's, with a strong aerobic and heavy-weight program. This approach has caused me to rethink my entire program. After two weeks, I feel stronger, more agile, more relaxed, better posture, than with my previous program. I still supplement the program with medium hand weights. But after each program, I no longer feel tired; instead I feel totally energized.

This book is like a cross between Pilates, ballet, yoga, physical therapy -- and more!!I studied classical ballet for years as a child, have done all kinds of dance and exercise throughout my life. Fads in exercising come and go! But this is here to stay! Great at any age! I ran across this program on PBS and said, "this is IT!"

I had results within 2 days doing only half of the exercises. A lot of my aches and pains were minimized or gone. I would recommend this book to everyone.

Everyone should read this book especially if they are over age 50 or have suffered chronic pain from any ailments involving muscles and bones. It is inspiring and has changed my attitude from giving up to new found hope. You can stay as young as you want if you will only try.

wonderful reference book. I love Miranda's "Classical Stretch" DVDs. this book shows the details of a lot of the moves and the rationalization behind them.

I was skeptical, but these exercises are really good. They're deceptively easy, but they're very effective in gaining flexibility and easing joint pain. I find it's very workable to do two sets of 10 minutes a day without even noticing.

Great Coffee Table Book! A great conversation piece with many beautiful pictures and great historical data on the great mansion in Washington D.C.

good detail and description

Not happy because it is not the latest version of the White House that is being sold in the Smithsonian, 2009. It has a few fold-out pictures, which did little to give panoramic views. I also hoped there would be bigger photos of the paintings of the US Presidents, including the First Ladies, instead of the postage stamp size paintings in the back of the book.Also would have liked more emphasis on landscape and still life paintings and statuary in the White House.The newer version in the Smithsonian was what I really wanted and still do. Guess one cannot purchase the current White House book anywhere but the Smithsonian. The Covers are almost identical, so I feel I was misled.

My husband and I gave this to our 11 year grandson for him to remember the trip we took to DC in 2009. He loved the book and wants to take it to school to share. The book has beautiful illustrations.

This review is related to the textbook, NOT the seller. The seller shipped the book quickly and it was in great condition. However, the TEXTBOOK is riddled with numerous errors and CONSTANT redundancy! If the repetition was omitted, the textbook would be half the size. Obviously no one proofs the textbook before printing. One section stated that during the turn of the century, people did not go to hospitals and communicable diseases were the leading cause of death...Well, this was true at the turn of the 20th century! This book has been revised several times in the 21st century, so that statement is no longer true!!! One chapter discussed a 2008 study that predicted events from 2007 (not much of a prediction!). Very unprofessionally written. Maybe professors & schools need to read the text they require their students to read.

Chapters 1-14 and 18-32 are the EXACT SAME in 3e; you only need to pay attention to how 15-17 have been moved around. Not a huge deal.I did a side by side comparison and its the exact same book as the 3rd edition, with the exception of chapter 17 (Working With Groups in the Community), which has been deleted and its replacement is a new Chapter 15 (surveillance and Outbreak). So, this means in the newer 3rd edition, the only chapters effected are 15, 16, & 17 (see my synopsis below; everything just gets bumped up.) Chapters 1-14 and 18-32 are the EXACT SAME in 3e.Here's a synopsis: Old 15 = new 16; Old 16 = new 17; Old 17 = replaced with new section (see above).Save yourself some money. Good luck in nursing school.

IDK about everyone else but community is a lot of extra work than needed. The book has saved me from failing the class because the hybrid class I am in the teacher has taught next to nothing and yet has kept us swamped.

This review is more for the quality of the rental that I received than the actual text itself. The rental arrived today in poor-moderate condition. There is a chunk of the cover missing at the top and the binding has begun to peel at the bottom, though nothing significant. There is some writing/highlighting throughout the text (which is a little distracting) but the pages are in good quality for the most part.

I was expected to buy the newest edition, and have made A's all semester with this book, therefore I was not disappointed in the contents it has. I compared the table of contents to the newer edition and the only main differences were the charts that update every so often (Healthy People 2020, some key figures such as current president, etc.). Totally worth buying if you don't have money for the new edition. You can always Google the updated information.

This book is a best buy. I was amazed at how of a good condition it was in when I opened the box.

This book is fine, it's a rental..the content inside is what I need. But I have to say the cover is a bit rough ;-)Someone had to tape the cover together along the spine so I hope I dont get penalized for it when I return it as that's how it came to me. But like I said, the inside material that I need is intact and just fine.

No issues with quality. Returned in time.
